The Advantages of 21700 Lithium Batteries

When it comes to the 21700 battery, Tesla is one of the companies using it.

Originally developed by Tesla Panasonic in the US, Tesla announced at an investor meeting on January 4, 2017, that they would manufacture a new 21700 battery at the Gigafactory, which they co-developed with Panasonic.

According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, this new battery has the highest energy density in the world and is also the most affordable. It is also lighter, allowing for more space in the vehicle and reducing the need for additional metal and electronic parts, resulting in a lighter lithium battery overall.

This increase in energy and decrease in weight will make the battery more efficient. Additionally, choosing the 21700 battery will lead to a significant reduction in the number of batteries needed, lowering the cost of Tesla's Pack project by around 24%.

By 2020, the energy density of the power battery is expected to reach 300 watts/hour/kg, with the power battery system at 260 watts per hour. Currently, the best 18650 battery does not meet these technical standards.
